ibank Joins Bilateral Discussions between the Ministry of Finance and the IsDB Group to Strengthen Cooperation and Expand Financial Inclusion

The Islamic Bank of Thailand (ibank) participated in high-level bilateral discussions between the Ministry of Finance and the Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB Group) on the occasion of Thailand hosting the 2026 Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group. The discussions aimed to strengthen cooperation in education, community development, and inclusive access to financial services (Financial Inclusion), while promoting sustainable economic and social development. The meeting was held on October 12, 2026, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.
Dr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, held bilateral discussions with H.E. Dr. Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser, the Islamic Development Bank Group Chairman (IsDB Group Chairman). Mr. Narit Therdsteerasukdi, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, Acting Chairman of the Board of Directors of ibank, and Dr. Taweelap Rittapirom, Director and President of the Bank, also attended the discussions.
The discussions focused on strengthening relations and expanding cooperation between the Ministry of Finance and the IsDB Group in education and human resource development, strengthening crisis resilience, and promoting a financial system that enables people from all sectors of society to access appropriate and fair financial services.
Both sides also emphasized the importance of advancing cooperation in Islamic finance, including collaboration between ibank and the Islamic Development Bank Institute (IsDBI) to exchange knowledge and experience. This cooperation will support the capacity development of Shariah-compliant financial institutions and promote access to financial services, in line with an economic development approach that balances economic growth, social equity, and sustainability.
ibank’s participation in the bilateral discussions reflects its role as a specialized state-owned financial institution operating fully Shariah-Compliant Banking. It also demonstrates the Bank’s contribution to connecting Thailand with the international Islamic finance network to support inclusive economic and social development, strengthen communities, and sustainably expand financial opportunities.
The discussions marked another important step in strengthening development-oriented relations and cooperation between the Ministry of Finance and the IsDB Group. They also opened opportunities for the exchange of knowledge, experience, and approaches to joint operations, creating long-term economic and social benefits for the people.
