Islamic Bank of Thailand (ibank) was established under the Islamic Bank of Thailand Act B.E. 2545 (2002) and commenced operations on 12 June 2003. Its establishment reflected Thailand’s commitment to providing access to financial services that comply with Islamic principles, initially responding in particular to the needs of Muslim communities in Thailand.

Over the years, ibank has evolved beyond its original market focus to become an alternative financial institution serving people and businesses regardless of faith, while maintaining its distinctive foundation in Shariah principles, ethical conduct, social responsibility, and good governance.

Today, ibank is a state-owned financial institution under Thailand’s Ministry of Finance, with the Ministry holding 99.59% of the Bank’s shares. The Bank provides a range of Shariah-compliant financial services, including financing, deposits, trade finance and Takaful-related services, through a nationwide network of 82 branches.

More than a financial institution, ibank represents Thailand’s distinctive approach to Islamic finance within a multicultural society — bringing together financial inclusion, ethical finance and economic opportunity. This positioning enables the Bank to contribute not only to the financial needs of Muslim communities, but also to the broader development of businesses, communities and Thailand’s growing engagement with the global Islamic economy.

ขอต้อนรับสู่พลังแห่งความร่วมมือ เพื่อร่วมสร้างอนาคตที่เข้มแข็ง ทั่วถึง และยั่งยืนไปด้วยกัน

Connecting Partners, Creating Shared Opportunities

Thailand stands at a unique intersection of ASEAN’s dynamic economy, a multicultural society, and the growing global Halal economy. As the country continues to strengthen its international economic connections, new opportunities are emerging to bring together finance, business, knowledge, and partnerships in support of more inclusive and sustainable growth. As Thailand’s state-owned Islamic financial institution, Islamic Bank of Thailand (ibank) sees Islamic finance as more than an alternative financial system. Its principles of fairness, responsibility, and shared benefit offer a valuable foundation for connecting financial solutions with the needs of businesses, communities, and the wider economy.

Against the backdrop of The 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group in Bangkok, ibank is bringing together partners from Thailand and around the world through its Affiliated Program, “Islamic Finance: From Crisis Resilience to Transition Finance.”

Together with our partners, we aim to create a platform where diverse perspectives, expertise, and networks come together — exploring how Islamic finance can contribute to economic resilience, sustainable transition, and new opportunities for international collaboration. Because meaningful progress is not built by one institution alone. It is built through partnerships that connect ideas, opportunities, and people — and turn shared values into shared progress.

Welcome to a partnership for a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable future.
